Depending on your ceiling height, you will have the choice of a few different mounting methods. As private collections can vary greatly in room size and layout, it’s important to review these details to determine the most suitable lighting arrangement. This decision is also influenced by where each artwork sits within the space. For example, you may have pieces on the walls as well as positioned in the centre of the room.

One of the greatest advantages of track lighting is its versatility. As a collector, you can create a customised layout for any room in your home. You can decide exactly how the light is distributed, directing it precisely where each piece needs it most. You may choose suspension-mounted tracks or require surface-mounted tracks. For optimal results in a home setting, art lighting performs best when positioned at a height between 9 foot 2 inches and 9 foot 10 inches (2.8 to 3 metres).

Surface Mounted

If your ceiling height is between 7 foot 10 inches and 9 foot, it is wisest to go for surface mounted tracks. The process is uncomplicated: the track will be screwed into whichever ceiling material is present, whether that is concrete, drywall, or any of the other common materials.

Suspension Mounted

For ceilings that are 9 foot 10 inches to 19 foot 6 inches (3 to 6 metres) in height, a suspension mounted track is the best possible option. This allows you to hang the track from your ceiling. We recommend hanging it at a height of between 9 foot 2 inches and 9 foot 10 inches (2.8 to 3 metres), so that the lighting will sit at the optimal distance from the artwork.

Warm White

Lighting with a warm white color temperature (3000K) is our recommendation and is used in the vast majority of fine art displays. A 3000K warm white temperature creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for guests. It’s also easier to achieve a CRI value of 97 with a warm white light.

To put CRI into perspective, natural daylight has a CRI of 100, meaning every colour appears in its truest form. While artificial lighting can’t quite reach a perfect 100, the right technology comes remarkably close. With high-quality lighting such as ours, you can achieve an exceptional CRI — so the colours in your collection appear almost exactly as they would under natural daylight. CRI 80

A CRI of 80 works well in establishments such as supermarkets and retail shops, but it does not allow for authentic vibrancy in colors. As this is all-important in an art gallery, we usually recommend that you opt for something higher.

CRI 97

As a CRI of 97 is so close to natural daylight, you can expect exceptional vibrancy in your colours. Our technologies have been carefully developed to achieve this high CRI, which is why they present artwork in such a true-to-life way.

Glare can ruin the experience of viewing art. Generic lighting not designed for fine art often creates a harsh hotspot in the centre of the piece, distracting from its details and colour. WiFi Dimming

WiFi dimming is the newest and most advanced technology in lighting system control. It is very simple to set up, and your light fittings are connected to your central WiFi network. You will be able to control the lighting through a smartphone or tablet app, and it is a more economical option than other dimming methods.

Traditional Manual Wall Dimming

Traditional manual wall dimming gives you control over your lighting levels via a wall dimmer. With a single-circuit system, you are able to synchronize the dimming of all your lights. If you have a three-circuit system, you will be able to control more than three separate groups of lights.
